Complete run of this journal, published in a small run, dedicated to the publication of young Bavarian writers. The publisher Friedl Brehm worked as an editor in the local section of the daily newspaper "Süddeutsche Zeitung" and managed his own publishing house in his spare time. In addition to this literary magazine, Brehm also published books in regional dialect and another magazine that also printed articles in dialect.
The "Edelgammler" was influenced by the developments in 1968. The word "Gammler" (which could be translated as "loafer", "deadbeat" or "down-and-outer") was a pejorative term used to describe non-conformist youth starting in the 1950s, but it was also used by the generation itself to describe a kind of slow, enjoyable way to pass one's time. In combination with the prefix "Edel-" (meaning "noble" or "classy"), it also evokes associations of a bon vivant or a certain dandyism.
Contributions by Wolfgang Bährle, Friedl Brehm, Peter Engel, Michael Kotttke, Lothar Kraus, Gisela Knoblauch, Kurt Morawietz, Lothar Simhart, Godehard Schramm, Helmut Zenker, Rainer Nowotnik, and many others.
