The first volume this Russian-language textbook of Persian, published in two volumes, the first containing a selection of poems, tales, and historical fragments, the second presenting a grammatical overview and lexicon. Boldyrev (1784–1842) was a leading expert on Near Eastern languages, literature, and history, and served as professor of Eastern languages at Moscow University (where he was later rector, from 1933 to 1936). Boldyrev was largely responsible for creating an important center for oriental studies at the university and his textbooks were in use until the late nineteenth century.
As of July 2024, KVK, OCLC only show two paper copies in North America, at Columbia and Princeton. Universitätsbibliothek Hamburg also holds a copy.
