Karel Teige a film. Úvodní studie Petra Krále [Karel Teige and film. With an introductory study by Petr Král].
Prague: Filmový ústav, 1966. Octavo (20 × 15 cm). Original pictorial wrappers by Jaroslava Veselá; 220 pp. of reproduced typescript to rectos and versos. Very good; in protective mylar. Item #P5523
The first volume to gather Karel Teige's various articles on film, mostly published during the 1920s and 1930s, with a lengthy introductory essay by Petr Král (1941-2020), the surrealist-influenced writer and film scholar. Teige was a formative member of the avant- garde movement “Devětsil” and served as a key conduit for West European avant-garde and surrealist tendencies to the Czech Republic in the interwar period, in addition to his own prolific work as an editor, graphic designer, and theoretician. Contains a bibliography. Apparently the work was published semi-officially, by the Prague Film Institute, and has the appearance of an internal publication published for a small number of recipients.
