[BERLIN NIGHT LIFE] Rolf Eden. Eden News (issue no. 0?).
Berlin: Eden-Saloon, [1961–62]. Octavo (21 × 14.6 cm). Original staple-stitchd pictorial wrappers; 24 pp. Last leaf lightly stained and creased; else very good. Item #P004161
An unrecorded memento of one of the most colorful chapters of post-war West Berlin, this privately published journal was distributed to guests of Rolf Eden's "Eden Saloon," a flashy nightclub just off the Kurfürstendamm. A jew born in Berlin, Eden exemplified the German Wirtschaftswunder like few entrepreneurs. He was one of the first to invite DJs to his club's parties, popularized striptease during a conservative era, and crafted a reputation as a flashy playboy that continues to live on today: at 86, Eden is commonly referred to as Germany's "last playboy." Published after the club moved to Damaschkestr., but before Eden opened the "New Eden" in 1962. Unnumbered, possibly a first or "zero" issue. Also included is a leaflet about Eden Saloon's participation in the 20th Berlinale (Berliner Filmfestspiele).
As of February 2024, neither item is recorded in KVK, OCLC.
