The first emigre edition of poems by Nikolai Kliuev (1884–1937), who represented the so-called "peasant poetry" along with Sergei Esenin. Though initially enthusiastic about the Revolution, which he hoped would protect the rights of the peasants and religious minorities such as the Old Believers, he eventually grew disillusioned and his work was increasingly criticized. In the 1930s he was arrested and perished in the Stalin Purges in 1937.
