Prague: Hudební Matice Umělecké Besedy, 1932. Folio (33.4 × 26.6 cm). Original decorative wrappers, most likely by Ladislav Sutnar; 9 pp. of musical notes. Foreedge lightly soiled; a few annotations throughout still about very good, in protective mylar. Item #6173
First and only edition of this celebratory march by Josef Suk, a Czech composer who was the son in law of Antonín Dvořák, here in the arrangement for piano. With Ladislav Sutnar's typographic design, printed in orange and black, as well as spare typographic layout to rear wrapper. Unsigned, like most of Sutnar's many more understated wrapper designs for the Hudební Matice publisher. Sutnar also designed the logotype of the Hudební Matice. Some of his more striking work for the publisher was featured in his 1934 retrospective and is pictured in Janákova-Knobloch, "Ladislav Sutnar: Design in Action" (Prague, 2003).
