[RUSSIAN ÉMIGRÉ PUBLISHING IN GERMANY] Verlag “Swobodnija Mysli” – “Freie Gedanken”. Izdatel’stvo “Svobodnyia Mysli” [Publishing house “Free thought”].

Berlin: [Izdatel’stvo “Svobodnyiia Mysli”], 1922. Single leaf of reproduced typescript to recto on printed letterhead, measuring 28.2 × 22.4 cm. Somewhat creased and chipped to edges, not affecting text; good or better. Item #55749

Scarce leaflet promoting advertising possibilities in the émigré literary newspaper “Svobodnyia mysli”, which the editorial team hoped to continue to publish in exile in Berlin in the early 1920s. Originally appearing in St. Petersburg in 1906–1917 and in Paris in 1920–1921, “Svobodnyia mysli” published authors such as Ivan Bunin, Aleksei Tolstoi, and Nadezhda Teffi. The present leaflet promotes the newspaper as “non-partisan” and therefore appealing to the broadest possible audience of readers “tired out by politics and war.” It appears that the newspaper did not in the end appear in Berlin, with this advertising notice a unique document of the plans of the editorial team.
