A catalog of titles released in 1928 by the Young Guard (Molodaia gvardiia) publishing house, with Constructivist-inspired wrappers (unattributed). Founded in 1922 and targeting young readers, it grew into one of the most significant Soviet publishers, continuing to operate to this day. The catalog includes titles by modernist authors such as Andrei Platonov, Viktor Shklovskii, and Aleksei Gastev, whose work was later repressed and not published in the 1930s. The catalog is divided into sections on Russian belles lettres, translations of foreign authors, poetry, history and theory of literature, memoirs, as well as titles in the series such as “Children of Labor and Struggle”, with brief reviews included for many individual titles. A number of wrappers are reproduced throughout the text. The catalog was distributed free of charge to libraries and book stores, and includes prices, information on placing orders and corresponding with the publisher, as well as additional publisher advertising for the magazines “Molodaia gvardiia” and “Smena” to rear wrappers.
