First edition of this programmatic essay by the Russian Futurist poet, one of the pioneers of "zaum", or trans-rational language, along with Velimir Khlebnikov. Published as no. 2 of the Moscow Futurist Association (MAF)'s theoretical series (Seriia teorii). With two illustrations by Ivan Kliun (1873–1943), the Russian avant-garde artist influenced by Suprematist and Constructivist tendencies.
