One of only six issues of the journal published between 1956 and 1958. The “Arte Nuevo” association saw itself as a catalyst for non-figurative tendencies in the Latin American art world. Not only did the group's newsletters report on the various projects in this field, but they also promoted the art-theoretical debate within the non-representational position. Thus, this issue opens with an essay by art critic and contributor to the journal “Sur” (South), Alfredo Roland, entitled “Reflexiones sobre lo abstracto y lo concreto” (Reflections on the abstract and the concrete). The members of the group included Manuel Álvarez, Carmelo Arden Quin, Martín Blaszko, Ana Sacerdote, Luis Tomasello, Towas, Gregorio Vardánega and Virgilio Villalba. (Cf.
