A charming fairy tale edition for children of the Ukrainiain diaspora, adapted by writer Ivanna Savyts'ka (1914–2011) and illustrated by Edvard Kozak (1902–1990; aka "Eko"). A tireless illustrator and writer, Kozak published a satirical journal while still resident of a Displaced Persons (DP) camp in post-war Germany. In 1949, he settled in Toronto and from 1951 he was based permanently in Detroit. By the time of his emigration, he was already a major figure in Ukrainian graphic arts, having contributed to major Ukrainian interwar satirical journals (such as "Zyz" and "Komar"). The latter journal contained the first Ukrainian comic strip and Kozak is typically considered to be the founder of Ukrainian comics.
