Scarce photo-illustrated booklet about the famous Czech puppetry troupe from Pilsen, founded by puppeteer Josef Skupa. The original puppets for the father-son cast were created in 1920 and 1926 by master carver Karel Nosek. The pamphlet contains the article "Jak vznikl Spejbl" (How Spejbl was born) by Josef Skupa, the essay "Dva dřevené profily" (Two wooden profiles) by Jan Malík, shorter descriptions of the history and development of the troupe, with photographs of the participants, as well as numerous reviews from contemporary newspapers. Although performances were held throughout Europe before the war, the puppets gained true fame only in the 1950s; they continue to be enormously popular in the Czech Republic today.
As of February 2024, not in KVK and OCLC.
