West Berlin: Verlag R. Herzog, 1970. Oblong octavo (13.8 × 20.5 cm). Original yellow wrappers with two stickers printed on pink stock affixed to front and rear wrapper; 55 pp, with 34 full-page illustrations. About very good; faint creasing to wrappers; wrapper labels becoming unglued. Item #54083
Apparently translated from English, this manual for cultivating Marihuana purports to be the work of a former American G.I. in the US Army, who "entered the Army in 1960 and became one of the many G.I.s who become acquainted with Marihuana in foreign countries each year." After returning to the US in 1963, he settled near Saginaw, Michigan and taught himself to cultivate the plant, soon developing the "Dynamite" strain. In addition to detailed instructions on cultivating and harvesting Marihuana, the book gives tips on rolling the perfect joint, using a pipe, and discusses the role of Marihuana in breaking the monopoly of the alcohol business. It also gives suggestions on evading the police and discusses the culture of Hash smokers and "dropouts" more generally. With numerous hectographed illustrations of the various tools and devices discussed, as well as a long cartoon strip which stretches throughout the book. Laid in is a page of four uncut stickers (so-called Spuckis, which featured a gummed side that could be moistened to affix the sticker), with slogans calling for the legalization of Marihuana. The sticker on the rear wrapper features the text "Zerschlagt den Staat mit dem Joint in der Hand" (Smash the state with a joint in your hand).
Rare; as of April 2024, KVK, OCLC show only one institutional copy, in the Netherlands.
