[POLISH LITERARY AVANT-GARDE] Linja: czasopismo awangardy literackiej [Line: a journal of the literary avant-garde], no. 4 (of five published).

Kraków: Franciszek Kurek, 1931–1933. Octavo (22.9 × 15.3 cm). Original staple-stitched printed wrappers; 85–104 pp. Good or better; overall wear and creasing; chipping to lower left corner. Item #52133

Fourth issue of the important, but somewhat later journal of the Kraków literary avant-garde, which emerged in 1922 around the journal "Zwrotnica" (The switch, 1922–1927). With contributions by leading figures of the movement, such as the editor Jalu Kurek, Julian Przyboś, Tadeusz Peiper, Jan Brzękowski, and Mila Elin (the only woman in the Krakow literary avant-garde, who appears to be all but forgotten today), as well as Marjan Czuchnowski and Jerzy Zagórski. Also includes an early poem by Czesław Miłosz. This issue includes theoretical essays about "constructivism" in Polish poetry.

Altogether five issues appeared in 1931–33 (the first three in 1931, the last two in 1932 and 1933 respectively).

Wrappers in all likelihood (though he is not credited here) with a typographic design by Kazimierz Podsadecki.

As of June 2022, KVK, OCLC show two holdings in North America, one complete and one containing only the first issue.
