A collection of three anti-militarist writings by Lev Tolstoy, first published in 1901, in which he calls upon members of the army to revolt against the murderous state. They were frequently distributed by soldiers allied with revolutionary movements and at the very least compelled members of the army to inconspicuously disobey orders, for example, by not directly shooting at the masses during a protest. We know of a variant with a darker gray wrapper, but are unsure which copy was issued first. Rare; KVK, OCLC show five copies, at Waseda, Columbia University, Melbourne, the Bavarian State Library, and the German National Library in Frankfurt.
